Running back C.J. Prosise watched from the bench Friday night as his Seattle Seahawks teammates beat the Minnesota Vikings at CenturyLink Field.

Prosise, who warmed up during the Seahawks’ pregame activities, was unable to play at kickoff due to a groin injury sustained earlier in the week.

Coach Pete Carroll was asked about Prosise’s status Monday afternoon during his post-practice press conference.

“Yeah, he’s running right there right now, he’s getting his work done today, he just tightened up for the game in pregame,” Carroll said. “I watched it happen right before my eyes; he was working, he was going hard, and you could see that he kind of felt it, so he hasn’t quite gotten rid of it. He’s had an MRI and there’s no result from the MRI, so that’s a really good sign.”

Carroll concluded his answer, “We’d love to see him play this weekend,” something we’ve heard many, many times before.

The Seahawks had high hopes for the running back when they selected him last year in the third round of the draft, but Prosise was inactive for the majority of his rookie season. He was sidelined multiple times, first with a hamstring issue to start training camp, followed by a wrist injury in the opener and a shoulder sprain in November.

Prosise only appeared in six regular season games in 2016.

“Something he felt a little last week, so again we’re disappointed that we just didn’t get him out there,” Carroll said following the Seahawks victory over the Vikings. “But he’s not hurt seriously, it’s just going to take a little bit.”

Prosise logged just one carry for three yards and one reception for eight yards in the Seahawks preseason debut against the Los Angeles Chargers.
